OUR HISTORY
The story of McLeod Express goes back more than 30 years to relatively modest beginnings. Today, the company offers a wider range of services over a much broader area. The fleet has become a place for all kinds of drivers, including company drivers and owner operators. There’s even room for drivers who want lease purchase trucking jobs. 1986
Mark McLeod founded McLeod Express, LLC. Mark started by hauling grain for his father’s farming business and moved into commercial hauling shortly afterwards, winning contracts with large local companies such as Archer Daniels, Tate & Lyle, and GSI. While the original focus was providing reliable service at a reasonable cost to central Illinois customers, Mark soon expanded the company’s scope of operations throughout the Midwest and eventually across the eastern United States. McLeod built a new terminal with a full-service maintenance shop and a 100,000 square foot warehouse, expanding their service offerings to their food-grade customer base in Central Illinois.
2002
2011
McLeod Logistics opened, arranging transportation services for its customers across the United States, including areas outside the normal scope of operations for its trucking fleets.
Expanded our long-term Lafayette, IN terminal to include a full-service maintenance shop and expanded our dedicated fleet with the intention of expanding our presence in the area.
2018
2019
Mark McLeod names his son, Colt McLeod, President over the business. Colt started his trucking career as a teenager washing trucks in Assumption. Shortly after college, Colt started our brokerage division in St Louis, where he lived for 7 years before moving to Decatur with his family to take a larger role on the asset side of the business. After spending two years in Decatur in various departments expanding his knowledge of the trucking business, his hard work and dedication has been rewarded!
Began our lease-purchase program based out of the Lafayette, IN terminal as another way for drivers to grow with McLeod and eventually own their own truck.
