The Unsung Heroes

With the holiday season ramping up, I am reminded of just how critical the transportation industry is. John Q. Public seems to take for granted all the sacrifices that a truck driver makes throughout the year. Most of them don’t think twice about cutting you off or not giving you enough space to maneuver. It seems to be a thankless job, but then again, thank you’s overall are a lot less common now than they were 50 years ago. You are the heroes who keep the world connected and your hard work ensures that hospitals are stocked, businesses stay open, and families have what they need.

Around 70% of all freight is moved by a truck. But truck drivers don’t just transport goods. They drive economic growth. Every delivery supports jobs in manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and countless other sectors. When trucks roll, businesses thrive. Conversely, when trucking is slow, it’s a pretty good barometer for the overall economy and it’s no secret that the economy has been struggling in 2025.

You are the centerpiece of the supply chain. Nearly everything we use or consume has spent some time on a truck. From food and medicine to building materials and electronics, truck drivers deliver the essentials that keep daily life running smoothly. Without you, store shelves would go empty, factories would grind to a halt, and communities would struggle to access even the most basic goods.

Being a truck driver requires more than skill. It demands patience, responsibility, and resilience. You face unpredictable weather, long hours away from home, and tight delivery schedules. No to mention the seemingly ever-changing standards and guidelines set by DOT and insurance companies. You are problem solvers, navigating complex routes and managing time-sensitive deliveries with precision. Keep up the good work. America is counting on you.
