OUR HISTORY
The story of McLeod Express goes back more than 30 years to relatively modest beginnings. Today, the company offers a wider range of services over a much broader area. The fleet has become a place for all kinds of drivers, including company drivers and owner operators. There’s even room for drivers who want lease purchase trucking jobs. 1986
Mark McLeod founded McLeod Express, LLC. Mark started by hauling grain for his father’s farming business and moved into commercial hauling shortly afterwards, winning contracts with large local companies such as Archer Daniels, Tate & Lyle, and GSI. While the original focus was providing reliable service at a reasonable cost to central Illinois customers, Mark soon expanded the company’s scope of operations throughout the Midwest and eventually across the eastern United States. McLeod built a new terminal with a full-service maintenance shop and a 100,000 square foot warehouse, expanding their service offerings to their food-grade customer base in Central Illinois.
2002
2010
McLeod Express expanded it’s footprint to a Springfield, IL terminal in 2010. Our frameless end dump division quickly needed it’s own space and we knew Springfield was the logical choice. Today, this division plays a large role in the services that McLeod Express offers. We take pride in helping lay the foundation for numerous building and road projects each year as well helping several customers keep their operation going year round.
McLeod Logistics opened, arranging transportation services for its customers across the United States, including areas outside the normal scope of operations for its trucking fleets.

2018
Expanded our long-term Lafayette, IN terminal to include a full-service maintenance shop and expanded our dedicated fleet with the intention of expanding our presence in the area.
Mark McLeod names his son, Colt McLeod, President over the business. Colt started his trucking career as a teenager washing trucks in Assumption. Shortly after college, Colt started our brokerage division in St Louis, where he lived for 7 years before moving to Decatur with his family to take a larger role on the asset side of the business. After spending two years in Decatur in various departments expanding his knowledge of the trucking business, his hard work and dedication has been rewarded!

2025
In 2025, McLeod Express expanded its warehousing operations with the completion of a new 611,000-square-foot warehouse in Decatur, Illinois. The facility was developed to meet growing demand for warehouse space in Central Illinois and strengthen the company’s logistics capabilities. Located near McLeod’s existing operations, the warehouse features 56 dock doors, four drive-through doors, a 36-foot clear height, and a two-story, 6,000-square-foot office space. The project represents a significant investment in the region’s transportation and distribution infrastructure, supporting business growth, customer service improvements, and additional employment opportunities while reinforcing Decatur’s position as a key logistics hub.
